MADISON – On April 8, James Clemens High School will be “Flying First Class Around the World” with the school’s first-ever fashion show.

James Clemens PTA and fashion department are hosting the show. Proceeds will benefit the school’s general fund.

“The show will not be your typical fashion show,” Sherri Shamwell said.

“The students will be representing their specific ‘fashion’ look for an assigned country or region of the world.”

Along with teaching fashion curricula, Shamwell also is responsible for classes in food and nutrition, child development and career preparedness.

James Clemens’ female population is rallying for the event. “Students have paired with each other, other teachers and staff members to create a fun-filled show,” Shamwell said.

Even parents are getting in on the act.

Community supporters and sponsors for the fashion show are Envy, Bon Chic, Epiphany in Huntsville, Twiggies, Crossroads, Alabama Fashion Alliance, Paul Mitchell The School Huntsville, Miller Talent Agency, Belks at Parkway Place Mall and Sunshyne Enterprises.

The show will run from 6 to 8 p.m. on April 8 in the commons area at James Clemens. Tickets are $2 for students and $5 for adults. Children who are younger than 12 years old will be admitted free.

“We have a great show planned,” Shamwell said. “The students have worked hard. We have had lots of support from the community in this. It should be a great time for the students.”

James Clemens PTA members are selling tickets, which will also be available at the show. Tickets also are available by emailing to Shamwell at sshamwell@madisoncity.k12.al.us or to PTA president Kara Lingerfelt at linger@knology.net.
