MADISON – The Community Foundation of Huntsville/Madison County is accepting nominations for individuals who have shown exceptional philanthropy in their local communities.

The selection process is part of the foundation’s “Summit on Philanthropy: From Success to Significance.”

“The foundation seeks to recognize individuals, families and corporations who exemplify extraordinary community philanthropy and who have made valuable contributions to our community at-large through their gifts of time, talent and treasure,” spokesperson Melissa Thompson said.

Anyone who nominates an individual, family or organization must complete a form and submit supporting documentation, four pages maximum, which explains the nominee’s contributions.

Deadline for nominations is July 31. Nomination forms are available at communityfoundationhsv.org.

To submit a nomination, email to melissa@communityfoundationhsv.org; mail to Community Foundation, P.O. Box 332, Huntsville, Alabama 35804; or deliver to the foundation office at 225 Church St. in Huntsville.

In past years, honorees in the category for individuals and families have included Alan and Debra Jenkins, Linda Smith, Fran Fluhler and Jean Wessel Templeton and the Wessel Family.

Logicore, Intergraph Corporation and COLSA Corporation have been honored as corporate givers. In the youth divisions, awards have gone to Sanders Clayton, United Way Youth Council and Rachel Baker.

Foundations that have been recognized include the Jane K. Lowe Charitable Foundation, John and Ruth Jurenko Foundation and Huntsville Hospital Foundation. In the professional advisor category, Chris Russell and Chris Hinson have received the honor.

Honorees will be announced at the Summit on Philanthropy on Sept. 17 at the Jackson Center.
