Bob Jones gets huge road win over Gadsden City

GADSDEN-  A week after their worst loss in the nine-years Kevin Rose has been coach, Bob Jones bounced back with one of the biggest wins in program history as the Patriots went on the road to a place they had never won before and soundly defeated Gadsden City 34-3.

The win puts Bob Jones securely in second place in Class 7A, Region 4. This is homecoming week and Grissom comes in Friday night for another huge region game then at Buckhorn on Oct. 27 to wrap up the regular season. The next week is an open date before the playoffs start.

After a scoreless first quarter Gadsden City went ahead on a field goal but Caden Rose got Bob Jones on the board with a 40-yard scamper for a touchdown. After the defense forced a turnover on downs Jacob Fruewald kicked a 36-yard field goal to put Bob Jones up 10-3 at the half.

Bob Jones dominated the third quarter breaking open a close game with 21 straight points.

Rose set up the first touchdown with a 70-yard completion to Kameron Kaba-Williams then Isaiah Hatchett scored from 17 yards out. Terrell Jennings then picked off a pass and returned it deep in Titan territory. Rose hit Cam Pugh for the touchdown. Jennings would intercept two more passes and Jaydon Hill had an interception that he returned for a touchdown to put Bob Jones up 31-3.

Bob Jones defense held Gadsden City to 108 yards of offense and only 5 first downs.

The Patriot offense rolled up 292 yards rushing. Caden Rose had 113 yards rushing and 99 yards passing and scored two touchdowns.

“It was a big win for us against a talented opponent on the road,” said Bob Jones coach Kevin Rose. “Our offensive line played well led by Colby Morrell at tackle and Caleb Lawson at center who is one of our captains. Caden played another solid game with good execution. Dylan Ray and Demontrez Brown did a good job blocking downfield.”

Rose said that one area that needs improvement is the kick return team “to establish better field position.”

Bob Jones has not returned a kick for a touchdown this year. They allowed a punt to be returned for a touchdown by James Clemens.

Bob Jones also had four interceptions against Florence in week 5. Jennings has five interceptions on the season while Jaydon Hill has four.

Bob Jones (5-3, 4-1) now faces Grissom (2-5, 1-4) who they have not lost too since 2006.
