Police make arrest at YMCA for car break-ins

Madison police investigate car break-ins at the YMCA Wednesday afternoon.

Madison police have a suspect in custody for multiple car break-ins at the Hogan Family YMCA Wednesday afternoon.

The suspect is Huy Thanh Tran, 22, of Madison. He was in possession of drugs and stolen property, according to police.

Tran is charged with five counts of unlawful breaking and entering a motor Vehicle, one count of first-degree theft of property, two counts of second-degree theft of property, and two counts of third-degree theft of property, according to police.

Tran was spotted breaking into vehicles at the Hogan Family YMCA by witnesses who promptly notified the Madison Police Department.

He was detained at the scene by the responding officers and transported to the Madison Police Department, where detectives continued the investigation.

Tran was arrested by Madison police for breaking into four vehicle break-ins at Dublin Park in November. He was out on bond on those cases when he was charged in this latest investigation.

The investigation continues and more charges are possibly forthcoming.
