Madison resident back at home
Rebecca Hill of Madison was recently discharged from a Tuscaloosa hospital following a traumatic brain injury received last November. Hill, 19, will reside in Madison with her parents, Nancy and Ray, and start rehabilitation therapy in Huntsville June 24. "Thank you so much for all your prayers," Nancy said to friends, family and the Madison community in a recent email. "Just remember to buckle up and make your kids wear a helmet. And even if they are 18, remind them to use caution in crossing busy streets." Hill's injury was sustained after being hit by a car and left her comatose for approximately three months.
New traffic signal installed
The Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT) has installed a new traffic signal at the intersection of Highway 53 and Nick Fitchard Road in Northwest Madison County. According to Johnny Harris, ALDOT Division 1 engineer, the signal is expected to be fully operational this week. The new signal is expected to decrease traffic congestion and accidents at the busy intersection. A Madison County man was killed last March at the intersection when a car pulled out from Nick Fitchard and hit the driver's motorcycle.
