If you have a business in Madison and you want to get the word out on what that business does, the Shop Madison First 2002 Business Expo will be held on Aug. 3 in the cafeteria of Discovery Middle School on Hughes Road.
The 10th annual Shop Madison First, an event sponsored by the Madison Chamber of Commerce, will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Sallie Wagner, managing director of the chamber, said the event is a wonderful opportunity for Madison businesses to spread the word about who they are and to show off what they do to the public.
"This is the 10th year for Shop Madison First," Wagner said.
"The expo is for all chamber members who wish to promote their services or products to the public. It will be held in the cafeteria of Discovery Middle School and there we encourage everyone in the area to come." Planned crafts for the children and other children's activities and other entertainment will be provided at the expo.
"Shop Madison First has grown each and every year since it was started in 1992," Wagner said. "It's a perfect way to educate the community about what Madison has to offer and what we are all about."
It is suggested that participating members consider giving out discount coupons, gift certificates or whatever will bring customers into the place of business. It is also recommended that drawings be held at the booth for a price. It will be up to the business to contact the winner."
The grand prize, again this year, will be Madison Bucks valued at $500. It will be used at the participating merchants at the expo and all businesses are to redeem this buck for cash.
WXQ Radio will present karaokee and a trip to Panama City, Fla.
