Library gets $10K donation

By By Thomas Tingle
Record Managing Editor
Madison County District 2 Commissioner Faye Dyer has given $10,000 to the Madison Public Library to purchase books and library needs. The money comes from leftover funds from the commissioner's budget. Dyer said it is rare that leftover funds are available, but she wanted to give the money to the library before the funds were used elsewhere. This is the second time Dyer has given $10,000 to the library. The commissioner also gave the Huntsville/Madison County Public Library $20,000 during the past year.
Dyer said several roads in her district – located in the city of Madison – would be paved. A portion of Hughes Road in front of the Madison Municipal Complex will be paved. A parking lot located behind the downtown buildings on Main Street will be paved before the Madison Street Festival on Oct. 5. Metaire Lane in Madison will also be paved.
