Letter to the Editor

By Staff
Serving the community
Dear Editor,
There is a weather-beaten brick building on Hughes Road.
Trucks and cars roll by in a steady stream day and night. "Hughes" is a busy road. The building, located at 1282 Hughes Road, is the Madison Senior Center. The center is a popular place for the seniors living in the city of Madison.
People are seen each morning, Monday through Friday, around the center. They are either parking their cars or leaving one of the Blue Bird busses provided for them. The people are active seniors who pass through the portals and are swallowed up in the cavernous depths of the building.
The entrance of the center displays shelves of beautiful handmade ceramic items that were made by seniors. On the west side of the center, there is parking space. Flowers and hanging plants surround a comfortable patio.
Madison seniors are proving that life is worth living as long and enjoyable as possible. They walk, swim, line dance, exercise, and sing, play cards, cross-stitch, and paint and go on short trips. The list is endless daily.
The city of Madison is serving the community by providing a safe, comfortable and pleasant place for the enjoyment of senior citizens.
Welcome to the Madison Senior Center.
Sincerely,
Ethel Stephens
Madison, Ala.
