Madison Fire Chief Ralph Cobb has returned to his job as the city's head firefighter after a year of active duty in the Reserves.
Cobb was assigned to the logistical support center working in emergency operations at Redstone Arsenal.
"I am glad to be back in my job again here in Madison and I appreciate all of the support that was given to me during my time served," Cobb said. "I appreciate the wonderful job Greg Garner did as active chief while I was away."
Cobb has been in the Reserves for 24 years. He said he feels as though his time served during Operation Enduring Freedom is a "one-time" situation.
"You never know what will happen with what is going on overseas or if I will be called back to active duty again," Cobb said. "I am glad to have served in the position I had."
