Concerts in the park Concerts in the Park, held at Big Spring Park in Huntsville, will feature Liquid Caravan, who play improvisational rock, and the 389th Army Band Monday, July 14. The first band performs from 6:30-7:30 p.m. and the second band will perform from 7:45-9 p.m. Fireworks will follow the concert. The concerts are free to the public. Bring lawn chairs or blankets.
Celtic music workshop to be held A Celtic music workshop and performance featuring the Good Fortune Ceilidh Band will be held at Railroad Bazaar, 4321 University Blvd. in Huntsville on Friday, July 11, beginning at 6:30 p.m. For more information, call 721-8514.
Calhoun offers aerospace, technology career open house Calhoun Community College will host an aerospace and technology career open house on Tuesday, July 15 from 6-8 p.m. in the Aerospace Training Center at the Decatur campus. Faculty and students will be on hand to discuss career potential and curriculum offered at Calhoun. For more information, visit www.calhoun.edu or call 256-306-2608.
HSV Museum of Art offers free admission * The Huntsville Museum of Art will offer free admission to military personnel and their children during Armed Forces Celebration Week, July 12-19. Military personnel must show their military identification for entry. The Huntsville Museum of Art is located at 300 Church Street. For more information, call 535-4350.
Farmers market plans special events * Free Krispy Kreme donuts and coffee will be available at the Madison County Farmers Market Friday, July 11 beginning at 5 a.m. and fresh, boiled corn on the cob will be available free of charge Saturday, July 12 from 5-10 a.m. You are invited to come early for best selections of fresh, homegrown vegetables. The Farmers Market is located off Memorial Parkway on Cook Avenue and is open from 6 a.m.-6 p.m., seven days a week.
The Madison County Farmers Market is the oldest in the state. It first opened in 1814 in the Madison County Courthouse basement.
Model train show scheduled * The Roundhouse Rail Show 2003 is scheduled for Saturday and Sunday, July 12-13 at the Huntsville Depot Roundhouse, 320 Church Street. Show hours will be 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Sunday. Adult admission is $5, 12 year olds and under will be admitted free with an adult ticket purchase. Shop Madison First * This year's Madison Chamber of Commerce sponsored "Shop Madison First" business exposition will be held on Saturday, July 19 at Bob Jones High School in the cafeteria. For more information, call the MCC at 461-0518.
