Fame! Local students take part in show

Local theatre enthusiasts have a number of parts in the upcoming Huntsville Community Course Association's production of "Fame, The Musical."
Based on the movie and television series "Fame," the musical follows the lives of students attending New York's School for the Performing Arts. Local individuals who landed one of the 34 parts are: Devondre Jones of Harvest, who will play Tyrone; Adrienne Garbarino of Madison, who will play Serena; David Giambrone of Toney, a drama teacher at Sparkman High School, will play Mr. Sheinkopf; Nathanial Jaime of Madison, will be in the chorus; Gabriel Jamie of Madison, will play Joe; Lincoln Parrot of Madison, will play Nick and Jonathon David Stone of Toney, will be in the chorus.
B. Dwayne Craft of Toney, Bob Jones High School's award winning drama teacher, is the assistant director; Bob Jones High School student Scott Cancel is student director; and Jeannie King of Madison is assistant to the director.
King said the cast members are all very talented and had to be able to sing, dance and act. Cast members were selected from 134 auditions.
Dr. Susan Brown, director of theatre at Alabama A&M University, is the director for the musical. Music director is Bill Lloyd and choreographer is Nancy Keyser-Shade.
Fame will open at the Huntsville VBC Playhouse on Friday, Aug. 1 at 7:30 p.m. Other performances are scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 2 at 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.; Sunday, Aug. 3 at 2 p.m.; Thursday, Aug. 7 at 7:30 p.m.; Friday, Aug. 8 at 7:30 p.m. and Saturday, Aug. 9 at 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.
Tickets can be purchased in Huntsville at the HCCA office in the Fantasy Arts Center, 3312 Long Ave. and at Shaver's Bookstore at 2362 Whitesburg Drive. Tickets are $20 for adults and $14 for students and seniors.
