Bob Jones High School, Madison Academy, Sparkman High School, Sports
Three local soccer players will play for the North in the boys and girls soccer competition during the 14th annual Alabama All-Star Sports Week July 12-16 in Huntsville.
Bob Jones midfielder Johnathan Mitchell and Sparkman midfielder Steve Owens will lead the North boys’ all-star team, while Madison Academy defender Danielle Berryman will play in the girls’ game.
The soccer all-stars will play a doubleheader Monday, July 12, at John Hunt Park.
The girls’ game will be played at 5 p.m., with the boys game to be played at 7 p.m.
All rosters are composed of upcoming seniors.
Sports Week features in-state all-star games in volleyball, girls and boys basketball, softball, baseball and football. Also included are clinics and sessions for coaches, athletic directors and administrators with University of Alabama Head Football Coach Nick Saban the headliner among several clinicians.
The members of the North team are defenders Allyson Jennings, Briarwood Christian; Berryman, Madison Academy; Christine Jones, Huntsville; Lauren Swee, Chelsea; midfielders Natalie Harding, New Hope; Margaret Page, Mountain Brook; Ashley Blake, Hoover; Abby Allen, Sylacauga; Nancy Brasseale, Catholic-Huntsville; Kelsey Cain, Jacksonville; forwards Courtney Hurt, Grissom; Jessica Salinas, Bob Jones; Annalika Steyn, Spain Park; Morgan Thorsen, Westminster Christian; Dabney Hofammann, Indian Springs; Megan Dancy, Oak Mountain; and keepers Hannah Bales, Cullman; Taylor Rae Rutherford; Decatur.
Coaches for the North team are Nathan Button, Thompson; Hunter Gray, Indian Springs, George Cavender, Butler (retired), administrative coach.
Members of the North boys’ team are defenders Phillip Dublin, Pelham; Alex Stutts, MARS Hill Bible; Samuel Dean Austin (DEF/MF); Nathan Diehl, Mountain Brook; Jonathan Ray, Grissom; midfielders Andrew Collins, Vestavia Hills; Kennedy Pope, Huntsville; Mitchell, Bob Jones; Giovanni Cortes, Saint Bernard Prep; Jackson O’Neal, Spain Park; Christopher Burris, Briarwood Christian; Kelly Getsinger, John Carroll; Steve Owens, Sparkman; forwards Alex Morton, Hoover; Aaron Garfrerick, Florence; John Imwalle, Oak Mountain (FOR/MF); and keepers Benjamin Munger, Cullman; Elijah Gibson, Clay-Chalkville.
Coaches for the North boys’ team are John Drake of Cullman and Patrick McDonald of Pelham with George Cavendar of Butler (retired) serving as administrative coach.
The Alabama High School Athletic Directors and Coaches Association operates under the auspices of the Alabama High School Athletic Association. Membership includes coaches of all AHSAA sports.
