Locals earn college degrees

Four local students recently earned college degrees during spring commencement ceremonies.

Virginia Coats recently graduated magna cum laude from Birmingham-Southern College.

BSC conferred 228 bachelors and four masters degrees during its 151st commencement ceremonies in May.

Denise Kee received a cum laude bachelor of arts degree in international studies from the college of liberal arts and human sciences at Virginia Tech.

Frances Oey of Huntsville and Steven Allen of Madison received degrees from Southern Methodist University. Oey received a master of science in telecommunications during the ceremony, while Allen received a master of science in systems engineering.
