Police arrest Madison man for trafficking cocaine and crack

A Madison man was arrested Wednesday, Oct. 6 as part of a three-county “organized drug” investigation.

Vincent “Vinnie” Harrell, 38, was among five people arrested in Etowah, Jefferson and Madison counties as a result of a 14-month investigation.

Harrell has been charged with trafficking cocaine, trafficking crack cocaine, felon in possession of a firearm and felony probation violation.

Also arrested were Antwain Lashon Harvey, 31, of Birmingham; Anthony Harvey, 56, of Gadsden; Eroma McCurdy, 48, of Gadsden; and Eugene Harrell, 73, of Gadsden.

Antwain Harvey is charged with trafficking marijuana, Anthony Harvey is charged with trafficking marijuana and crack cocaine, McCurdy is charged with trafficking crack cocaine and Eugene Harrell is charged with trafficking cocaine.

Sixteen firearms were seized, including assault weapons, handguns and one short-barreled shotgun. Approximately 1 pound of crack and powered cocaine was also seized during the operation.

Commander Rob Savage said five search warrants were successfully executed in three minutes over 120 miles apart during the operation.

Seizure applications have been made on six vehicles and four residences.

Agencies involved included the Etowah County Drug Enforcement Unit, Etowah County Joint Special Operations Group, Etowah County and Birmingham Safe Streets Task Force, FBI, IRS, Madison STAC Unit, Huntsville SWAT, Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, Etowah County Sheriff’s Office and the Etowah County District Attorney’s Office.
