Former Crimson Tide walk-on, Sparkman standout arrested on drug charges

Former University of Alabama football walk-on and 2004 Sparkman High graduate Darwin Salaam was arrested Oct. 6 on drug charges.

Salaam of Madison and D.J. Hall, who is the Tide’s all-time leading receiver in catches and yards, were both arrested at a Tuscaloosa hotel Wednesday after officers responded to a call of guests smoking marijuana in a room.

Officers recovered marijuana, digital scales, sandwich bags, Adderall pills and a 9-millimeter handgun during a search of their room at the Value Place Hotel.

Salaam and Hall have been charged with first-degree possession of marijuana and first-degree possession of a controlled substance.

Both men were released on a $30,000.
