William Hicks; Oct. 15, 2010

William Thomas Hicks, 77 of Athens, Alabama passed away Friday, Oct. 15 at his residence.

Funeral services were Monday, Oct. 18 at 2 p.m. at Spry Funeral Home Chapel in Athen with Jimmy Bassham and Don Hicks officiating. Burial was in the Madison City Cemetery.

Visitation was from 6-9 p.m. Oct. 17 at Spry Funeral Home.

Hicks was born Dec. 5, 1932 in Madison County. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Athens, a U.S. Army Veteran, a member of American Legion, a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles and a retired truck driver

Survivors include his wife, Ruby Hicks of Athens; sons Don Hicks of Dublin, Ga., Jeff Hicks of New Market, Ron Hicks of Raleigh, N.C. and Patrick Hicks of Huntsville; sister Gladys Pack of Greenbrier; step-children Johnny Johns of Ethridge, Tenn., Sharon Hobbs of Athens and Tommy Smith of Huntsville; seven grandchildren, three grandchildren, 4 step-grandchildren and six step-great-grandchildren
