City to dedicate new Dog Park
The city of Madison will hold a dedication ceremony Thursday, Oct. 21 at the new Dog Park located at the Mill Creek Greenway.
The ceremony will begin at 10 a.m.
The 1.43-acre park is enclosed by a 4-foot tall chain link fence and features a 30,927 square-foot play area for dogs weighing 25 pounds or less, a 31,363 square-foot play area for dogs weighing more than 25 pounds and a 20-by-30-foot staging area for the dogs as they enter the park.
The first phase also features drinking fountains for both humans and dogs, waste bag dispensers and trash bins.
The second phase will include parking access from the new Balch Road extension, a pavilion, benches, water feature for dogs to play in, a dog-washing station, an obstacle course and an area designed for toy or tiny breeds.
The project was made possible by funding from the Madison City Council, Commissioner Dale Strong, Representative Mike Ball, Representative Mac McCutcheon, Senator Tom Butler, and Senator Arthur Orr.
