Heritage holds blood drive for principal
Students at Heritage Elementary will walk a “Lap for Love” in honor of school Principal Dr. Lydia Davenport.
Wednesday, Nov. 10. is being hailed as Dr. Davenport Day at the school. There will also be a blood and plasma drive in her honor.
Students are going to walk a lap on the track , while the community is encouraged to come out and donate blood and plasma, which will benefit the blood bank. The school is asking for a dollar donation per lap.
Davenport, who is currently in the hospital for a blood disorder, opened the elementary school as principal in 1999.
She went into the hospital in September, and is now in an extended stay, according to school officials.
The drive will be located in the Heritage gym from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
