Dennis signs with Gardner-Webb

Dennis signed with Gardner-Webb University in North Carolina.

Another student at Bob Jones has signed a college basketball scholarship.

Senior Kyle Dennis signed with Gardner-Webb University in Boiling Springs, N.C.

Dennis was honored with a celebration at Bob Jones, Wednesday. Nov. 17.

“I’m happy for myself but it doesn’t stop me from working,” Dennis said at his signing ceremony. “I’ve got to keep working to get better. I chose the school because of the coaching staff and the atmosphere and I feel that it’s a program on the rise.”

Dennis’ mother, Robin said she is most proud of him.

“He has worked really hard to get to where he is,” she said, “He has accomplished a lot of his goals. He’s always kind of a jokester and to see him serious was emotional for me.”

Dennis said he comes from an athletic family. He has two older brothers who previously played basketball at Bob Jones.

“The whole family played basketball,” he said. “That’s all we do.”

He said he plans to major in sports marketing and become a college coach one day.

His basketball coach, Danny Petty said Dennis is a “gym rat” who has always worked hard.

“That’s reason he can shoot the ball and play as well as he has,” Petty said. “He’s worked really hard in the off-season and made a really good leap from last year to this year. Kyle is one of our best communicators on defense. We’re really proud of him and his chance to play at Gardner Webb is tremendous. We wish him well.”
