Bob Jones named on top culinary schools list

Bob Jones High School has been named one of the HOT 100 Secondary School Culinary Programs in the United States for the 2010 – 2011 school year.

Each year, the HOT 100 list recognizes those secondary schools that have demonstrated a commitment to excellence in culinary arts education. In an economy where every program receives increasing scrutiny as school districts cope with shrinking budgets and difficult choices, the list recognizes those schools which continue to recognize the value of culinary arts education deserve special recognition and encouragement.

A team from the acclaimed National Center oversees the selection process for the HOT 100 list for Hospitality Studies at Sullivan University. Selections are based in part on consultation with Family, Career & Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) and Skills USA. Beginning with a roster of all schools deemed to have strong programming in the
areas of culinary arts and/or baking and pastry arts, these organizations assisted the Sullivan team in identifying additional criteria, such as recent performance in national and regional competitions, a proven history of excellence in curriculum and a significant positive impact on their communities.

The HOT 100 list is in no particular order and schools are not ranked within the list; it simply recognizes the 100 most influential programs nationwide based on committee research, professional recommendations and public data collected. The list is reviewed on a regular basis and is subject to change based on future events, research, competitions, rankings and so on.

Students and faculty at all HOT 100 schools enjoy exclusive access to a variety of resources at www.sullivan.edu/lp/hot100, and receive advance notice of camps and other special events sponsored or presented by the National Center for Hospitality Studies at Sullivan University.

Sullivan University is home to the renowned National Center for Hospitality Studies, one of the leading Culinary Arts, Professional Catering, Baking & Pastry Arts, Hotel/Restaurant Management, and Hospitality Management programs in the country. Sullivan University has campuses in both Louisville and Lexington, Ky.
