Officials to make decision on postponing Christmas Parade

City officials are considering postponing Madison’s annual Christmas Parade because of inclement weather.

The parade is scheduled for Saturday at 5:30 p.m., but if the weather changes, the parade will be postpone to Sunday afternoon at 2:45 p.m.

“We’re going to meet at 2 p.m. Saturday to review what the weather is going to do,” said Kory Alfred, parks and recreation manager. “If we see that the forecast isn’t going to cooperate, we’ll make the decision at 3 p.m.”

The decision will be announced by Mayor Paul Finley, Gayle Milam of the Parks and Recreation Department, Chief of Police Larry Muncey and Lt. Jim Cooke. The decision will be posted on the city’s website, www.madisonal.gov, t 2:45 p.m.

“Hopefully, we’ll get a couple hours without snow or rain,” Alfred said.
