Local woman wins free television

Platinum Mortgage representatives (L-R) Veronica Oden, Dawn Miller, Johnathan Smith, Adam Haines, Laura Potts, Beth Miller and Frank Brown with winner Shana Howard.

Shana Howard may not have a new house to put it in yet, but she recently won a brand new T.V. from Platinum Mortgage in Madison.

In conjunction with the Madison County Homebuilders Association 2010 Parade of Homes, Platinum placed entry boxes in selected new homes for a drawing of the 42 in. LCD T.V. Howard, and her husband, William, names were drawn Tuesday, Dec. 28.

“You never win anything, but everyone says that until they actually do win,” Howard said when she first walked into the Platinum Mortgage office, located at 3825 Sullivan St.

“I’m excited because I can put it on my wall in my bedroom and lay back and relax.”

Platinum donated the television as a strategy to get more people out looking at homes in order to take advantage of the historically low rates.

Beth Miller, Platinum Mortgage president said Madison has been lucky because the city’s housing market has excelled, while a majority of other markets have and are still suffering.

“We are a big supporter of our community and will stay focused on doing our part to keep our area strong in the housing industry,” Miller said.

Platinum Mortgage was established in 1996 as a privately held resident lender based in Madison. The company has more than 90 employees with offices in Athens, Decatur and Madison. Platinum specialized in first-time homebuyers and has offered mortgage rates on government and conventional loans.
