Thurman W. Dunson; Jan. 8, 2011

Thurman W. “Jaybird” Dunson went to be with the lord on Saturday, Jan. 8. He was a member of Wesley United Methodist church and attended St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in his later years. He was a Navy veteran and retired after 29 years of service with Redstone Arsenal.

He was preceded in death by his wife Annie Bea Brazell Dunson, parents Rufus and Millie Dunson, brother Willie, Carl and Clifford Dunson, sister Clara Dunson Clark and daughter in law Margaret Shea Dunson.

He is survived by his daughters Martha Dunson Eberhard and husband Charles, Phyllis Carolyn Dunson Lones and husband Wayne, sons Thurman L. “Duke” Dunson and Vickie Mason Dunson and William E Dunson and wife Daphne, brothers Cecil Dunson and sister Helen Bailey, 14 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren, family members Alton, Wanda, Frank, Alonza, Mary and Eugene Brazell and Julia Brazell Maze many nieces, nephews and friends.

Arrangements are entrusted to Spry Funeral Home of Huntsville where the family will receive friends on Wednesday from 6-8pm. Funeral Services will be Thursday, Jan. 13, at 11am at St. Paul United Methodist Church, 3250 Dunn Drive SW, with Rev. Sherrie Elliott officiating. Burial will be at Valhalla.

The family sends a special thank you to Wiregrass Hospice and especially nurse Roselyn Atkins.

Memorial donations may be made to Wesley United Methodist Church or St. Paul United Methodist Church.
