School make-up days to be announced at Wednesday’s board meeting

Madison City School students were out of school for five days due to inclement weather.

A decision about which days Madison City School students will make up for the five snow days missed last week is expected to be announced at the board of education meeting at 5 p.m., Wednesday, Jan, 19 at Central Office.

“Instructionally, we only have students in school for 180 days,” said Superintendent Dr. Dee Fowler in an e-mail sent out on the MCS listerv. “We want to ensure that the days in school are quality days and not just attendance days. We know we have some student days that are not as high quality as others, and we strive to eliminate those days and maximize our quality student contact days.”

He said he will have an amended calendar for the Board to consider and, if approved, it will be posted to the Madison City School website the following day.
