Bobby Eaves; Jan. 17, 2011

Bobby Joe Eaves, 68, of Madison passed away Monday, Jan. 17. He was a lifelong resident of north Alabama graduating from Coffee High School and Florence State College of Florence before moving to the Huntsville/Madison area to work in 1965.

He worked with the Boeing Company, Sperry Rand Corporation and Xerox Corporation before joining the Huntsville Engineering and Support Center of the Corps of Engineers where he retired with 30 years of service in Feb. 2004. He completed his career as Budget Officer and Senior Program Analyst and worked as a consultant to the Business Management Office after retirement. He was a Certified Government Financial Manager and received numerous awards which include the Commanders Award for Civilian Service and the Department of Defense Financial Management Initiatives Award.

Mr. Eaves was a member of the Church of Christ and attended Hughes Road Church of Christ. He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Eaves of Florence and his son, Gregory Eaves of Grant.

Survivors include his daughter, Dr. Michelle Eaves Parks and husband, Michael of New Market; two grandsons, Aiden and Easton Parks; mother, Bernice Eaves of Florence; sister, Peggy Shelton and husband, Jerry of Owens Cross Roads; and brother, Sam Eaves and wife, Martha of Florence.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 19 at Laughlin Service Funeral Home. The graveside service will be at 1 p.m. Friday, Jan. 21 at the Tri-City Memorial Gardens in Florence with Tim Rice officiating.
