Madison Police investigating a string of burglaries

The Madison Police Department is currently investigating a string of residential burglaries that have occurred in recent weeks.

The suspects are targeting residences that appear to be unoccupied by ringing the doorbell an excessive number of times before going to the rear of the home and forcing entry by kicking in a back door.

Police are asking that residents be aware of any unusual activity in their neighborhoods, including persons and vehicles that appear to be out of place or appear to be present for an unusually extended period of time.

Police are also asking that residents verify that they know the person knocking on their door or ringing their doorbell before answering the door.

Anyone observing suspicious activity or with information regarding these crimes is encouraged to call the Madison Police Department at 256-722-7190.
