Bernice Roberson; Feb. 7, 2011

Bernice Norton Roberson, 80, of Madison, formerly of Mount Hope, passed away at her daughter’s home surrounded by family.

Bernice was born in Moulton to Jim and Cora Proctor Norton.

Her siblings are Jimmie and husband Tom Dutton, Cullie and wife Hazel Norton, Inez and husband Benjamin Dutton, and Luther and wife Geraldine Norton; and sisters-in-law, Miriam and husband Walter Roberson Watkins, and Virginia and husband Paul Roberson Robinson. Her husband, Jim, preceded her in death.

Bernice operated a profitable farm until a few years ago. She loved being outdoors, gospel and bluegrass music, and in later years picked up her childhood hobby of crocheting; her pieces were works of art.

Bernice took great pride in her children, Lamar and wife Mamie Roberson of Mount Hope, and Lawanda and husband William Collins of Madison; and the center of Nana’s heart, Drew and Kyle Roberson of Mount Hope.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Lawrence Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Immediately following the service, a graveside service will be held at Rock Springs Memorial Presbyterian Church.

A special thanks to her caregiver, Haley Bone, Dr. Neel Roberts, Jamika and MaryBeth with Hospice of North Alabama and the love and support of friends and family.
