Lady Mustangs trounce Brindlee Mountain to advance to area finals

Madison Academy vs. Brindlee Mountain

Rachel Bialoskurski takes a shot during the Mustangs' victory over Brindlee Mountain in the Class 3A Area 14 tournament.

All 12 Madison Academy Lady Mustangs scored Friday as the team cruised to a dominating victory over Brindlee Mountain, 72-24, to advance to the Class 3A Area 14 finals.

“That’s healthy for your program, getting everybody involved,” Madison Academy head coach Brian Privett said of playing his entire roster. “For them to be able to get the minutes is fun for the team, and there are some of the girls that we’re going to have to depend on.”

The Mustangs opened a commanding 28-5 first quarter lead, and extended it to 41-11 at the half.

The Mustangs tacked on 20 more points in the third quarter.

KeKe Fletcher led Madison Academy with 17 points, followed by Halie Loney with 16 and Nyla Johnson with 10.

For Brindlee Mountain, Miranda Daniel, Jessica Green and Jordan Blankenship finished with six points apiece.

The Mustangs will turn around and host Randolph in the finals Saturday at 2 p.m.

“Our girls are in condition enough to be able to handle that,” Privett said of the short turnaround.
