Madison’s Gore elected to APA office
Leada Gore, a Madison resident and the former president and publisher of The Madison County Record and Hartselle Enquirer has been elected first vice president of the Alabama Press Association.
When she takes office next February, Gore will be the fourth female in APA history to be elected to the position.
“It’s always good to be with any good professional organization that promotes and gives access to information,” Gore said.
Gore’s obligations are to mainly preside over APA convention meetings, as well as fulfill other designated duties.
She has been involved with the APA for 18 years.
Gore currently serves as general manager for Price Publications.
She is a graduate of the University of Montevallo with a degree in history. She joined Boone Newspapers in 1992 as a staff writer at the Shelby County Reporter.
The APA was founded in 1871 as the Editors and Publishers Association of Alabama, the name was changed to Alabama Press Association in 1891.
APA represents the interests of the newspaper industry by offering two annual conventions and a number of workshops and conferences. It also represents the newspaper industry before the state legislature, focusing on government access laws and on business-related laws that impact the newspaper industry.
