Mill Creek workday Saturday

Get your shovels, rakes, wheelbarrows and garden hand tools and head down to Mill Creek Elementary School.

Volunteers and PTA members will be out Saturday, Feb. 26, for the Mill Creek Playground Work Day.

Volunteers will be cleaning, repairing and performing basic upkeep for the playground.

From 8 a.m. to noon, volunteers will install two new benches, evaluate drainage, pull weeds, level mulch pods, week and mulch flower beds and fertilize and stake trees.

The PTA raised $30,000 to build the school’s playground last February.

Kara Lingerfelt, vice president of PTA fundraising, said a playground was not in the school’s budget when it opened in 2009, so the association took it upon themselves to raise money and construct the playground.
