Fine Arts school to raise scholarship money

Madison’s New School of Fine Arts is holding a benefit performance and dinner to provide scholarships to aspiring students who aren’t able to otherwise pay.

The dinner will be held Saturday, March 26 in the Bob Jones High School cafeteria from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m.

“We are trying to raise support for students that want to take music and dance lessons and who do not have the capabilities to pay for it,” said Dennis Brock, New School founder and director.

Brock said the school hopes to raise $10,000.

There will also be a silent action beforehand and Brock is looking for local businesses to donate items to be auctioned off.

The event will feature a live concert and presentation, Imagine the Possibilities, performed by faculty and staff, where they will explain how they teach and the values of the school.

“We are inviting everyone to come and enjoy this family friendly event to celebrate music and dance education for the Huntsville community,” Brock said.

There is no cost to attend the fundraiser, but Brock suggests a $7 donation for adults and $5 for children. More or less can be donated.

“We’ve never done a fundraiser before. We’ve always depended on the contributions of the students that are here,” Brock said, “but we need help.”

Individuals interested in attending are asked to contact Brock at 256-489-0307 or www.newsongschool.net.
