Choir receives check to compete

John Grant of the Madison Optimist Club presents the Bob Jones Choral Department with a check.

Competing in the National Choral Competition just got easier for the Bob Jones High School choir.

Their April 15-19 trip to compete in Orlando, Fla. was sponsored by the Madison Optimists Club.

“We’re happy to help,” said President John Grant.

The club presented the choir with a $1000 check to use toward the travel expenses.

“This will reduce the money we have to raise,” said Choral Director Randall Fields. “We’re very appreciative.”

The choir performed for the optimist club on March 3 and Grant said they believed them to be a worthy cause.

“The optimist club motto is friend of youth,” Grant said. “We couldn’t think of a better way to be a friend of youth than giving them cash to pursue their endeavors.”
