Eloise Sampson; April 1, 2011

Eloise Steele Sampson of Huntsville passed away on Friday, April 1.

Mrs. Sampson was a retired schoolteacher who taught for many years in the Huntsville city school system.

She leaves to cherish her memories a loving son, Charles Melvin Sampson of Los Angeles; dedicated cousins, Eunice Clay, Eartis Branch and Doris Mullins of Huntsville; and other cousins and friends.

Eloise was baptized at an early age. She was a member of Phillips CME Church, sang in the sanctuary choir and worked in other capacities until her health failed her. She later attended First Missionary Baptist Church.

Funeral services for Mrs. Sampson will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, April 7 at First Missionary Baptist Church with Dr. Julius R. Scruggs officiating. The remains of Mrs. Sampson will be placed in the church one hour prior to funeral time. Entombment will be in Valhalla Memory Gardens. Final arrangements have been entrusted to Nelms Memorial Funeral Home.
