Lady Patriots advance to playoffs

BY ROBERT MCGUIGAN / SPECIAL TO THE RECORD

In a fast-paced defensive battle at Huntsville High School Wednesday, April 20, the Bob Jones Lady Patriots earned a number two spot in class 6A, section 8 soccer.

Despite the 2-1 loss to the Lady Panthers Wednesday night, Bob Jones will play Clay-Chalkville in the first round of playoffs beginning April 29.

Huntsville scored first with a shot by player Hope Murphy from outside the 20.  With 27 minutes and three seconds left in the game, Senior Captain Tori Davis tied it up.  Jesssica Hoover assisted on the play.

The game headed into overtime when a headshot was caught by Bob Jones goalie, Melissa Boylen at the two-second mark.  After two, five minute overtimes, Bob Jones lost in the penalty kick shoot out.

The final regular season game for the Lady Patriots will be Thursday, April 21, at home, as they take on number three-ranked Grissom High School at 7 p.m.
