Bob Jones defeats Austin 34-6 in spring jamboree

About half of the team returned to play in the upcoming season, said Head Coach Kevin Rose.

Bob Jones defeated Austin High School 34-6 during its jamboree game Friday, May 13.

About half of the team returned to play in the upcoming season, said Head Coach Kevin Rose.

Rose said the team played good defense and offense, but will need to improve in the kicking game.

“We have to find a kicker that can win in 6A football, so we’ll certainly start addressing that,” he said, “but overall, we’re very pleased.”

With Spain Park and Hoover High School on the schedule for next season, Rose said it is an “extremely challenging” schedule, but the team will definitely be ready when the time comes. He said he is also looking out for Florence, Huntsville and Decatur high schools, as well as Buckhorn.

But for now, Rose said the team will practice this summer and build on its strengths.

“We accomplished exactly what we wanted to accomplish tonight,” he said. “We played well and it gives us momentum to go into the summer and start building on the success we’ve had in the last two years.”
