The Mustangs drop game One in the 3A state championship

The Madison Academy Mustangs dropped Game 1 of the AHSAA 3A State Championship to the Gordo Green Wave by a score of 7-3, Wednesday, May 18.

Jared Brinson led the Mustangs by going 3-for-4 and scoring the first run of the game.

The Mustangs couldn’t get their hits with runners in scoring position. The Green Way did just that.

The Mustangs had eight hits for the game led by Jared Brinson, who was 3-for-4 for the game with three singles.

Clayton Palicki was 2-for-4 for the Mustangs.  Ben Seabrook, Ian Rice, and Spencer Palmer each had singles.

The Green Wave managed 11 hits for the game, but got two critical hits that score 5 of their 8 runs when they had runners in scoring position.

Drew Mobley pitched 6 2/3 innings for the Mustangs allowing 10 hits, striking out eight, and allowing all seven runs.  Spencer Palmer relieved Mobley and finished the game allowing one hit and recording one strike out.

The Mustangs face Gordo in Game 2 Thursday at 4 p.m. at Riverwalk Stadium.

Game 3 will be at Riverwalk if the Mustangs can win Game 2.
