Madison Academy ends season with loss against Gordo

Ben Seabrook greets Drew Mobley after Mobley's second Homerun of the night. Mobley broke the all-time single season homerun record at Madison Academy with 16.

Madison Academy had them where they wanted them.

They had a four-run lead and three outs to go to force Game 3 for the state championship.  They had the momentum, swagger and crowd noise.  Five hits and one error later, the Gordo Green Wave sent the Mustangs home with the second place trophy.  The Gordo High School Greenwave won the 2011 AHSAA 3A State Championship.  Final score was Gordo 7, MA 6.

The Mustangs combined for nine hits highlighted by Drew Mobley’s two homeruns.  Ian Rice and Chris Adams both had two hits.  The Mustang pitchers allowed seven runs on 11 hits and had eight strikeouts for the game.

The 2011 MA Seniors have been to the State Championship three years in a row.  During that time, they won the Championship in 2009 and were runners up in 2010 and again this year.  They were undefeated in area play all three years (24-0).  Their combined win/loss record is 100-46.  The Mustangs graduate eight seniors.
