Man arrested on sodomy charges

A man has been arrested on charges of sodomy and possession of child pornography.

Palmer

Detectives from the Madison Police Department served two warrants for first-degree sodomy on 25-year-old Matthew Thomas Palmer, at his home on Kelsey Lynn Lane in Madison County.

Palmer was also charged with one count of possession of child pornography at the time of arrest.

Palmer was accused of sodomy with an 8-year-old boy in Madison at Federal Square Suites on Madison Blvd in August of 2010. Mr. Palmer was booked into the Madison County Jail with a $120,000 bond.

Lt. Terrell Cook said through an on-going investigation, the police department was able to obtain search warrants, which eventually lead to Palmer’s arrest.

“It can take a long amount of time to interview the suspect, the victim and the victim’s family,” Cook said. “ Once we got enough probable cause to obtain a warrant, we went and served the warrant.”
