Where dreams are built

The Remodelers Idea Home, part of the Spring Tour of Homes, is located at 1602 Mont Dale Road.

The 25th annual Spring Tour of Homes, presented by the Huntsville/Madison County Builders Association, is open to the public at no charge.

This weekend, June 11 and 12, the 85 newly-constructed homes and eight renovated homes featured will be open from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.

“With that many homes on the tour, I would first of all look in the area that I think I wanted to live in—whether it’s north, south, east or west Madison County,” said Lynne Kilgore, executive director of the HMCBA. “And then I would look at the price ranges of the homes and narrow it down to whatever the price point is that you’re qualified for. Then I would go to those homes first.”

Maps are available at SpringTourofHomes.com. The homes are color-coded by price range. Prices of homes vary from $120,000 to $985,000.

The homes are for sale, with the exception of some of the remodeled ones which are already occupied.

“Most of the builders, I would say, probably have Realtors that work for them or have that home listed,” Kilgore said. “So they can go in and talk directly with the builder or the builder’s representative there in the house.”

A wide array of builders submitted homes, Kilgore explained. She also pointed out that it’s an excellent time for anyone that has had storm damage to check out builders and remodelers.

“That’s a perfect time for people to go and see their work and see what they do. And they can judge for themselves if that’s the right builder for them,” Kilgore said. “And, who knows? Maybe they’ll find a house they want to buy.”

An addition to the Spring Tour of Homes is the Remodelers Idea Home, featuring ways homes can be remodeled using sustainable building practices.

Located at 1602 Mont Dale Rd., this home was originally built in the 1960s and was purchased by HMCBA and totally renovated. This home is also for sale.

“It’s a really good opportunity for someone to see what you can do with an older home and how you can remodel it,” Kilgore said.
