Storm shelter grants are available

Applications are available for individuals in the Madison area to receive grants to help pay for constructing storm shelters. The Huntsville-Madison County Emergency Management Agency made the applications available Monday, June 13.

If approved for a grant, homeowners will be reimbursed for either 75 percent of the cost of construction or $4,000, whichever is lower.

The grant must be approved before beginning construction in order to qualify.

These grants do not apply to the building of community shelters.
