Business Expo and Kids Day to be held at the YMCA

ALLIE HULCHER/ REPORTER

The Annual Madison Chamber of Commerce Business Expo and Kids Day will have a change of venue in its 19th year.

On Saturday, July the 30th, the Expo will be held at the YMCA, instead of Dublin Park like in past years.

“Our past venue was good, but with current community focus being on the YMCA, it was the opportune moment to move the Business Expo,” said Felecia McInnish, the event, marketing and communications coordinator at the Chamber.

For the first time, City Hall will have a booth at the Expo.  This will give the community a change to meet with Mayor Finley and Nansi Clark, the mayor’s new executive assistant, who will be handling out new city maps.

This year’s Expo and Kids Day is also special because there will be waterslide inflatables for the kids instead of regular ones that were too hot to be enjoyable.  There will also be a dunking booth.

“Water will be a cooling relief,” McInnish said. “Who would you like to see get dunked?”

The free event is an opportunity to visit over 50 businesses in one place.  People have the opportunity to learn more about the merchants in the area with personalized attention.  All booths this year will have child friendly activities or giveaways.

Hotdogs and drinks will be provided for free, and fire trucks, ambulances and police cars will be available for children to investigate.

McInnish said the Chamber expects the turnout to be better than ever.  Since the YMCA has become a central hub for residents and family, it seemed a fitting venue.

“It will be a family day where you run into people you know, young, old or somewhere in between,” McInnish said.

The YMCA is located on 130 Park Square Lane in Madison.
