HPD finds body

On Sept. 9, 2011, members of the HEMSI Search and Rescue squad, the Heavy Rescue one team (members of the HFD and MFD) and the HPD found what appeared to be the body of 19-year-old Michael Thomas Smith.

The body was found near Highway 65 and Moores Mill Road.

A missing person case was filed with HPD on Aug. 31.  HPD then conducted a missing person investigation, which led to a certain area to focus the search teams on.

Search teams discovered the body believed to be Smith’s at around 11:20 a.m.

HPD is currently conducting a death investigation.
