MCC Small Business Awards next week

Next Thursday, the Madison Chamber of Commerce will host its annual Small Business Awards ceremony at the Westin Hotel.

The cocktail reception will begin at 6 p.m., followed by the dinner and awards at 7 p.m. The Winner’s Champagne and Chocolate Reception will begin at 8:30 p.m.

The chamber will hand out four awards to members in the categories of Ambassador of the Year, Start-up Business of the Year, Excellence in Leadership and Small Business of the Year.

This is the first year the ceremony is being held in the evening, as opposed to lunchtime.

“We wanted to build prestige around the event,” said Felecia McInnish, events, marketing and communications director. “We wanted to honor the people who have earned this award in a proper manner.”

Last year’s Small Business of the Year winner was Jonathan Dunwoody for Minuteman Press.

Lisa Williams, co-founder and president of 3D Research Corporation, will be the Keynote Speaker at the ceremony.

As the president of 3D Research, Williams was responsible for the management and operations of a multi-million dollar company with 17 different locations through out the United States and one international site.

Tickets are $49 per person and $459 for a table of eight. Cocktail attire is recommended.
