Nancy Downs; Oct. 1, 2011

Nancy Carol Hagood Downs, 60, of Madison passed away Oct. 1.

She was born Jan. 3, 1951, in Madison County to Herman Luther Hagood and Edna Earle Campbell Hagood.

She was a member of New Hope Baptist Church in Limestone County. She loved all her family members and cooking and was an avid Auburn football fan. She also loved her two pets, Stormy and Heidi.

Survivors include her husband, Glenn Downs; one son, Brian Keith Downs and wife Sonya; two daughters, Glennice Nannette Downs and fiance Patrick Hurst, and Amanda Downs Gentle and husband Mickey; one brother, John Harold Hagood and wife Sandra; one sister, Joanne Hagood Anderson and husband Morris; three grandchildren, Meagan Downs, Kyle Downs and Markus Downs; and one great-grandchild, Madison Downs.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 8 at Shiloh Baptist Church in Somerville with visitation beginning one hour prior to services. Dr. Charles Owens and the Rev. Marcus Long will officiate.

In lieu of flowers, donations for funeral expenses can be made to Redstone Federal Credit Union in the name of Brian and Sonya Downs.
