Annual Christmas parade scheduled for Dec. 3

The Madison Christmas parade will be held Dec. 3 this year.

In past years, the parade has typically been held on the second Saturday in December. Gayle Milam, Madison’s event and volunteer coordinator, said the earlier date would allow for more weather dates in case of inclement weather. The parade was canceled last year due to “dangerous wind chill” forecasts.

“We are keeping the 2010 Parade theme “Winter Wonderland” as our 2011 theme because so many participants had prepared their floats and we, unfortunately, had to cancel,” Milam said. “We will now have the opportunity to see what our participants had worked so hard on last year.”

The parade will begin at 5:30 p.m.

The Parade route will begin at Hughes Road and Plaza Drive and will continue to downtown Madison.  There will be an Awards Ceremony following the parade at the Roundhouse at Village Green.

The Madison Rotary Club will be at the Roundhouse serving hot chocolate and cookies.
