Smiles of Madison holds true to its name

A new dentist in Madison promises to keep smiles on patients’ faces.

Coker

Dr. Matthew Coker has opened Smiles of Madison Dentistry LLC at 12090 County Line Road, Suite L.

At his clinic, Coker provides general dentistry, Invisilign for teeth straightening, Lumineers, porcelain crowns and bridges, root canals, implant restorations and dentures or partials.

At five years old, Coker announced to his family that he was going to be a dentist and never changed his mind. “I enjoy working with my hands and helping people,” Coker said. “I love the relationships and friendships that I have developed with my patients through the years.”

He believes that new techniques and advancements in dentistry are fascinating. “I love it when I change someone’s life, and they are now proud to smile,” Coker said.

He graduated summa cum laude from the University of North Alabama in 1998 and earned his medical degree at the University of Alabama School of Dentistry in Birmingham in 2001.

For 10 years, he practiced at Coker Cosmetic & Family Dentistry in Florence. At Smiles of Madison, Coker has three employees — one dental assistant, one front office work and one dental hygienist.

Coker grew up on Wilson Lake in North Alabama and continues to live on Blue Water Creek in Elgin. “The best times of my life revolve around the river. I couldn’t live any other place.”

Coker helps with fundraising for the Myelin Project, a scientific organization that researches problems with nerve coatings. He is a member of the American Dental Association.

A music enthusiast, he likes to play guitar and sing with friends. He enjoys boating and watching sunsets on Wilson Lake.

“My favorite hobby is my four-year-old son Evan. He is amazing and already practicing dentistry. I think he may be a dental ‘Doogie Howser,'” Coker said, referring to the brilliant television character.

Smiles of Madison is open Monday-Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and every other Monday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. For more information, call 256-233-6200, send email to smilesofmadison@gmail.com or visit smilesofmadison.net.
