Morning crash knocks out power to area homes

Emergency crews along with Alabama State Troopers responded to someone trapped in car at the intersection of Shields road and Winchester road in Huntsville around 4:30am.

Police said the car crashed into a utility pole knocking out power to local residents and caught fire. One of the passengers were able to climb out of the vehicle before emergency crews arrived. Emergency workers had to free the passenger trapped inside. Both were taken the hospital with serious injuries. The victim’s names have not been released. Power has since been restored to the area.
