Hatley brings in volunteers for hospital

Volunteering is a universal service that hospitals even require.

Hatley

As director of Annual Giving and Volunteer Coordinator, Kelly Hatley’s job at Madison Hospital is to ensure the community relies on the hospital by providing cutting-edge technology and invaluable services that might not otherwise be possible.

Hatley has worked with the Huntsville Hospital Foundation staff for the past two years. She has been working with the Madison community to raise funds and support for Madison Hospital.

“I will be developing relationships in this community so that everyone has an opportunity to get to know us and their hospital,” said Hatley.

She said there have been several cultivation events at local Madison restaurants; Surie, Sakura, and Famous Joe’s Pizza-and the Foundation has hosted countless community partner luncheons, breakfasts and meetings where Mary Lynne Wright, president of Madison Hospital, has shared her vision of what the Madison Hospital will offer local residents.

As the Volunteer Coordinator, Hatley will be working with the hospital staff and the Madison community to coordinate the hospital needs with those in our community that can fulfill these needs as a volunteer.

“We have held two volunteer informational meetings and we have had a tremendous response,” said Hatley. “My hope is to instill a sense of community pride and excitement so that residents will be inspired to support us with their time either as a volunteer and/or charitable contributions.”

Before working at Madison Hospital Hatley worked for five years at the U.S. Space & Rocket Center in donor relations, managing the Space Camp Scholarship Program.

“I also worked for three years in the Advancement Office at Reformed Theological Seminary in Jackson, Miss., where I organized the student scholarships and supported the efforts of the Advancement Department,” Hatley added.

Hatley said she decided to go into her profession while working in a non-profit organization at Reformed Theological Seminary.

“I fell into that job position, but as I learned more about coordinating people who want to give with the needs of the students at the seminary I began to love it,” Hatley said.

As a Madison resident, Hatley said that she is aware of the need for a hospital that is closer than downtown Huntsville.

“Madison Hospital will feature the latest in cutting-edge technology which is so important to Madison residents, but will also complement Madison’s reputation for hometown, southern hospitality,” Hatley said.  “The Madison Hospital team is doing a wonderful job in providing the health care technology the Madison area residents deserve while making the patients as comfortable as possible while they are there.”

Hatley is originally from Virginia. She relocated to Madison in 2004 with her husband, Geoff. They have three children: Jeremy, Micah and Abby. “I spend most of my free time attending my kids’ activities,” said Hatley.  “They are all involved in sports which keep us very busy.”

“Health care is something that everyone needs at some time in their lives whether it is for themselves or for their loved ones,” said Hatley.

As an employee of Madison Hospital Hatley said she will make sure all of the volunteer efforts goes beyond what is expected.
