Mary Ella (Fox) King; Feb. 8, 2012

Mary Ella (Fox) King, 74, of Madison, passed away Thursday, Feb. 8.

Mrs. King attended Sullins College, graduated from the University of Florida and received a Master’s Degree from the University of Tennessee. She retired as a social worker from Wabash Valley Hospital in 2000. She was awarded Social Worker Of The Year and received many local and state honors in Indiana for her extensive contributions to the community. Mary Ella and her husband lived in Lafayette, Ind. for 40 years before returning to her hometown of Huntsville in 2006 where she continued to volunteer. She was a member of Elmwood Church of Christ in Lafayette and Madison Church of Christ in Madison.

Mrs. King was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert King.

Survivors include her son, Jason P. King of Harvest; brother, Bob B. Fox of Charlotte, NC and sister, Kathey E. Fox of Huntsville.

Visitation was from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 11 at Laughlin Service Funeral Home. The funeral service followed at 2 p.m. at the funeral home chapel with Gayle Crowe and Mike Winkler officiating. Burial was in Maple Hill Cemetery, Inc.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the National Children’s Advocacy Center or a charity of your choice .
