Conner hired as schools’ director of operations

Patrick Conner has been hired as Director of Operations for Madison City Schools.

Conner has worked as chief school financial officer for the Tuscaloosa County School System since 2007. He worked in this same role for Tuscaloosa City Schools for six years.

His resume also includes work as vice president of finance with Coral Industries Inc. for 10 years and Gemco Corporation for 22 years.

He left Coral Industries, a manufacturing company, looking for a new venture. “I found the work as the chief financial officer for a K-12 school district to be challenging and extremely rewarding,” Conner said.

“Madison City Schools, along with all the other 131 public, K-12 school districts in Alabama, is continuing to suffer from the effects of four years of proration,” Conner said. “I hope I can play a small part in mapping a strategy to provide the highest quality education for our students while living within the budget constraints.”

As director of operations, Conner will support the system’s instructional program by administering and supervising operational functions of the district. For operational areas, he will direct, supervise and evaluate personnel and programs, including transportation, child nutrition, construction, maintenance and custodial.

Conner will act as interim chief school financial officer.

His wife Lucile Conner is a registered nurse and works as case manager for Hospice of West Alabama, an 80-employee, not-for-profit hospice offering both inpatient and outpatient care to a seven-county area in West Alabama.
